'Ashes’ marks the beginning of a journey into self-discovery. It showcases the feelings of someone who has been thrust into a world where they are under-appreciated and neglected by the system.

Society can demand that people fit into certain moulds, and this song explores how it feels for someone to be disregarded by society because they do not fit those moulds, or at least how those aspects of a personality can feel oppressed by a system that doesn’t care.

‘Ashes’ is about knowing that you have something to offer the world, but not being shown the right path to take in order to achieve your full potential.

On a personal level this can be from the absence of a father figure, but speaking more generally it can also be applied to anyone who has been oppressed and left feeling neglected.

Everyone has a spark in them that can achieve greatness, but when that spark isn’t fostered into a flame, the embers go out and all that’s left are the ‘Ashes’.
